2012 – 3 Concerts over the summer, held on the 2nd Tuesday in June, July and August. The first year was a success! Fox Valley Physician Services and North Aurora Mothers Club were our Concert Sponsors. Raimondo’s Pizza kept everyone well fed. Turnout was great and it’s wonderful to hear live music on the riverfront.
NOARDA presents North Aurora’s Evergreen Holidays
2012 – 26 decorated trees lit up North Aurora’s Riverfront Park for the second year. Held on Dec 2 2012 from 4-6pm. Children’s activities including a cookie walk, balloon artist and crafts. Warm your hands by the fire pit while enjoying hot chocolate and cookies. This event wouldn’t be possible without our 26 Tree Sponsors as well as North Aurora Mothers Club, Crossway Chapel and North Aurora Lions for providing crafts, games and beverages during the event.
2011 – 16 decorated trees for our first North Aurora’s Evergreen Holidays. Held on Dec 4, 2011 from 3-5pm. We had a great turnout from the community and are excited to make this a North Aurora tradition.
NOARDA presents Run For The Riverfront 5k/10k and 1 mile fun run, a North Aurora Days event
2013 – Planning has already started for the 2013 race. The event will once again be held on the Mooseheart Child City campus. Mark your calendars for August 3, 2013.
2012 – The 5k/10k run was re-branded “Run For The Riverfront” aligning the race with NOARDA’s commitment to developing the North Aurora riverfront area into a destination that residents and visitors will enjoy. The race once again benefited NOARDA and the West Aurora Cross Country teams. The race was held August 4, 2012 during the fun-filled weekend of North Aurora Days.
2010 – NOARDA along with West Aurora High School Cross Country Teams brought back the North Aurora Days 5k/10k Run in August 2010. Proceeds from the event benefited both organizations.
Update – NOARDA is not putting on a show in 2013. While we have enjoyed bringing a cake show to the Fox Valley, we are a small group (less than 10) of volunteers and this show requires a lot of work to pull off.
2012 – The event was held at Water Street Studios in the space that is now Kiss The Sky. New this year was a 3 Hour Live Cake Challenge between Mark Lie, Bob Brougham and Karen Scobbie. Other activities included Cake Pop demonstratio
ns and Cupcake Decorating for Kids.
2011 – The event was moved to Eden Support Living. Once again there were over 25 entries, many wonderful demos, and this year cake tastes were available for purchase by the attendees.
2010 – NOARDA’s first annual That Takes The Cake – Show and Competition took place on April 11th, 2010. Held at the Holiday Inn Express in Aurora, there were over 25 entries, several small demonstrations, and a detailed presen
tation by head Judge Bob Brougham of The Cakery in North Aurora.
Spring Clean Up at North Aurora’s Island Park
2013 – See you there on April 20th!
2012 – A great turnout was had by the Park District for the Spring Clean Up. This was the most people we’ve ever seen participate at Island Park! NOARDA was excited to once again be a part of the beautification of our riverfront and parks.
2011 – NOARDA and its volunteers showed up again and did a thorough clean-up at the river. It was a great opportunity to explore the riverfront and see all the early spring plants and wildlife.
2010 – NOARDA members joined the Fox Valley Park District in the Spring Clean Up at North Aurora’s Island Park. Volunteers from NOARDA and the North Aurora community came out to clean up Island Park and our river front. This is an annual event put on by the Park District and NOARDA was happy to collaborate and provide volunteers.
2013 – See you there on June 2nd!
2011 – In 2011 the event had a slightly different tone. Nature chose not to cooperate and the Parade marchers had to deal with 45 degrees and 35 mph winds. But everyone marched happily and made their way down to Island Park. Despite the cold and the ferocious wind, the ducks had to swim! Once again the children cheered on their favorite duck and the North Aurora Fire Dept. plucked the winning duck from the water.
2010 – On May 16 2010 North Aurora Mothers Club hosted and sponsored the first North Aurora Community Parade.
NOARDA sponsored the Post-Parade Party at Island Park featuring a Rubber Duck race to raise money for NOARDA.
Children lined the edge of the mill race cheering on their favorite duck and hoping theirs would be the first one to cross the finish line. Vendors provided ice cream, pizza, Mexican delicacies, and soda. Local groups sponsored free kids’ games throughout the afternoon. Local vendors had giveaways and The River 95.9 broadcast from the event and MC’ed the duck race.
