NOARDA presents Run For The Riverfront 5k / 10 k and 1 mile fun run, a North Aurora Days event
NOARDA, along with West Aurora High School Track and Field Team, brought back the North Aurora Days 5k / 10k Run in August 2010. Proceeds from the event benefited both organizations.
For 2012 the 5k/10k run has been re-branded "Run For The Riverfront" aligning the race with NOARDA’s commitment to developing the North Aurora riverfront area into a destination that residents and visitors will enjoy. The race will once again benefit NOARDA and the West Aurora Cross Country and Track teams. The race will be held August 4, 2012 during the fun-filled weekend of North Aurora Days.
NOARDA's That Takes The Cake – Show and Competition
NOARDA's first annual That Takes The Cake – Show and Competition took place on April 11th, 2010. Held at the Holiday Inn Express in Aurora, there were over 25 entries, several small demonstrations, and a detailed presentation by head Judge Bob Brougham of The Cakery in North Aurora.
In 2011, the event was moved to Eden Support Living. Once again there were over 25 entries, many wonderful demos, and this year cake tastes were available for purchase by the attendees.

Spring Clean Up at North Aurora's Island Park
In April 2010 NOARDA joined the Fox Valley Park District in the Spring Clean Up at North Aurora's Island Park. Volunteers from NOARDA and the North Aurora community came out to clean up Island Park and our river front. This is an annual event put on by the Park District and NOARDA was happy to collaborate and provide volunteers.
In 2011 NOARDA and its volunteers showed up again and did a thorough clean-up at the river. It was a great opportunity to explore the riverfront and see all the early spring plants and wildlife.
North Aurora Community Parade – Post-Parade Party at Island Park
On May 16 2010 North Aurora Mothers Club hosted and sponsored the first North Aurora Community Parade. NOARDA sponsored the Post-Parade Party at Island Park featuring a Rubber Duck race to raise money for NOARDA. Children lined the edge of the mill race cheering on their favorite duck and hoping theirs would be the first one to cross the finish line. Vendors provided ice cream, pizza, Mexican delicacies, and soda. Local groups sponsored free kids' games throughout the afternoon. Local vendors had giveaways and The River 95.9 broadcast from the event and MC'ed the duck race.
In 2011 the event had a slightly different tone. Nature chose not to cooperate and the Parade marchers had to deal with 45 degrees and 35 mph winds. But everyone marched happily and made their way down to Island Park. Despite the cold and the ferocious wind, the ducks had to swim! Once again the children cheered on their favorite duck and the North Aurora Fire Dept. plucked the winning duck from the water.
